Your Help is Needed: School budget cuts expected this weekend!

Philadelphia Student Union members have been working hard all year to ensure that the school funding formula put in place last year will remain intact, and that underfunded districts across the state will continue to see increases that get us closer to funding equity. Students have met with legislators, testified before the House Education Committee, and helped create a Community Account of school improvements. NOW, WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PROTECT SCHOOL FUNDING.

The House of Representatives will vote on a budget today (Friday) that provides some additional support for basic education but fails to fully fund the second year of the basic education funding formula. The Senate may vote on this revised budget over the weekend. Advocates expect them to slash support for basic education as they did in their original budget.

PLEASE CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS AND ASK THEM TO SUPPORT FULL FUNDING FOR THE BASIC EDUCATION FORMULA.

Click here to send an email to your state senator, telling them to support full funding for the basic education formula. Please act now; it only takes a moment!
