The Philadelphia Student Union needs a new home

This spring, the Philadelphia Student Union was evicted from our home on 42nd and Chestnut. For the past few months, we have been operating without an office. (Watch our new video to see just how challenging that can be!) We just launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $11,000 to move to a new home.

We were forced out of our old office due to gentrification. In the wake of this eviction, it has been a challenge to find a new space that is affordable and meets our needs. We face a lack of youth-friendly spaces in Philadelphia, and the criminalization of Black and Brown youth is rampant in our city. Our new office must be accessible by public transit; due to gentrification, many of the most transit-accessible neighborhoods in Philadelphia are no longer affordable. These factors all affect our ability to find a space for PSU that is safe and welcoming.

For the past 20 years, the Philadelphia Student Union has been building student leadership on the front lines of the fight for public education. We launched this Indiegogo campaign to aid in the transition to a new home, so that we can continue focusing on the crucial work of dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline, developing youth leadership, and fighting to preserve public education. We need your help to make our new home a reality!

Every donation helps, no matter how big or small.
