Summer Programs at the Philadelphia Student Union
It’s that time of year again! School is out and summer is here! We have programs all summer that any high school student in Philadelphia can join, check them out.
PSU summer starts off with our Tuesday/Thursday meetings begining on July 8th. We will be covering topics like gentrification, capitalism, the prison industrial complex and much more! Don’t worry, there will be lots of fun activities and field trips, too. There will be food and tokens provided at every meeting.
On Blast Radio Summer is launching on July 11th. There will be a series of seven workshops that take place from July 11th to August 8th. Students will learn the essential elements of radio production from interviewing with professional audio equipment to editing on ProTools. All students who attend the seven workshops will complete a radio piece by the end of the summer.
Finally, coming up in August is BAYM (Building a Youth Movement), our summer organizing training week. We will be learning about the issues facing students in Philadelphia and the parts of a campaign. This will be a very important time to prepare and strategize for next year. All students who participate in BAYM will need to submit an application. Check back for more blog posts on BAYM! To get a BAYM application, email Beth: firstname.lastname@example.org.
