Solidarity with Chicago: PSU Leader, Sharron, supports Chicago students!
Hi this is Sharron!
We’re on our way to Chicago to support the protests to save their schools because we’re going through the same thing in Philly. I feel bad for the students in Chicago because they’re experiencing the same thing our schools are due to budget cuts, school closings, and school changes. That means that students in both Chicago and Philly will not have as many opportunities to succeed, we’ll have to travel farther to school and there won’t be enough staff to help us.
I’m writing this blog to let the people in Philly know that we’re not the only ones going through this. There are poor communities in Chicago and New York going through this too.
I’m excited to travel all the way to Chicago to support them from Philly. This is my first time flying so I’m a little nervous. But I know I’m going to learn a lot and have fun. We’re about to do a lot of walking.
Keep posted for updates on the Chicago fight to stop school closings.
This is Hiram and I at a rally in Chicago! I’ll keep you updated with more posts soon!
