PSU Strikes Again! Politicizing teachers in training around schools and socal control!
This past Tuesday (the 19th), Dan Jones (me!), Candace Carter, Khalif Dobson, Javier Morris, and Cherelle Reed led a workshop around schools and social control for around 70 students in college to become teachers. It went really well and I think we got through to them about a lot of the deep issues at play in our schools: Issues of capitalism, social control, poverty, prison, the military, and the reasons why schools are the way they are. It’s the workshop where we begin by breaking everyone up into three groups and going through a simulation of some of the dynamics in the public education system, and then talk about those dynamics and why they exist. -hint: it’s so the people in power can continue to remain in power-.
Great job people!
