Free Webinar on Saving for College
The PA Treasury is hosting a seminar for African American families who are thinking about college for their children – the reality is you can’t start saving for college soon enough and education about the 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan (GSP) can help families save up to 50% of college costs including tuition, room & board, books and more. We are targeting families with children ages 0 to 13 yrs of age. Accounts can be open with as little as $25 and contributions can be made by family and friends, as well. With GSP, you get to purchase credits at today’s rates for tomorrow. For example: a contribution of $2,942 in 1998 = 1 semester at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2009, ten years after your first contribution, one semester at Pittsburgh costs $6,672. Market value of contribution in 2009 = $4,000 because the GSP Fund pays $6,672. Money is guaranteed!! Also note, as of June 30, 2009, the GSP paid out over $555 million to help make college possible for 28,415 students attending more than 1,500 different schools! Please encourage your family, friends and neighbors to participate in this free webinar on this Sunday, November 22!
